New European Charter for Researchers

The European Charter for Researchers (2023) is a set of principles underpinning the development of attractive research careers to support excellence in research and innovation across Europe. The focus of the Charter is the rights and responsibilities of researchers, employers, funders and policymakers.

The Charter for Researchers consists of 20 key principles. These are classified under the following four pillars:
I. Ethics, Integrity, Gender and Open Science;
II. Researchers’ Assessment, Recruitment and Progression;
III. Working Conditions and Practices;
IV. Research Careers and Talent Development.

The Charter for Researchers is directed to all researchers, research performing sectors and respective umbrella organisations (stakeholders).

The OTM-R Package is a set of ready-made tools designed for implementation in research and scientific institutions for an open, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process based on the qualifications of the candidate. The package includes practical and useful guidelines for employers.

OTM-R is one of the key aspects ensuring accessibility and openness of the labor market for scientists in the European Union.

OTM-R checklist

In the OTM-R package, you will find:

The aim of OTM-R is to increase the efficiency of national research systems, where employment opportunities are equalized, and international cooperation influences the intensification of scientific knowledge on a broader scale.
